These easy slow cooker maple glazed carrots make the perfect side dish. They’re quick and easy to get into the slow cooker, and have just the right amount of sweetness.
Since they’re made in the slow cooker, you can get them ready early in the day, and just let them cook until dinner time. And they only take 5-10 minutes to get into the slow cooker, so they really don’t take much time at all.
We loved these maple glazed carrots as a side with our dinner, and will definitely be making them over and over again!
Do glazed carrots reheat well?
These maple glazed carrots will reheat well, either on low in the slow cooker for 1-2 hours, or on low heat in the microwave.
You could also saute them over medium low heat on the stove, with a bit of butter so they don’t dry out.
Can carrots be prepared ahead of time?
These carrots can be peeled and sliced well ahead of time (several days is fine), but I would recommend storing them in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.
If you want to prepare the whole recipe the day before you can. Prepare it as written, and then simply place the covered slow cooker crock in the fridge until you are ready to cook them. They may take an extra 30 minutes or so to cook since everything will be cold to start.
How to make Slow Cooker Maple Glazed Carrots:
- I like to slice my carrots lengthwise, and then into two inch pieces. Feel free to just slice them into thicker slices instead. Either will work just fine.
- You can cook these on low for 5-6 hours, or on high for 2-3 hours. The time will depend a bit on your slow cooker, as all of them cook a little differently. As long as they are fork tender they are done.
- If you want to thicken the glaze a bit, you can turn the slow cooker to high and leave the lid off for the last half hour of cook time.
